Visit the ‘Our Energy Future’ area where you can explore where the world’s energy comes from as well as some amazing ideas that could lead us towards a lower-carbon world. Some of this year’s highlights are going to be a virtual reality journey beneath the Earth’s surface and discovering how solar & wave energy actually work. Fancy a little more competition, then why not compete to see how much energy you can generate in a giant zorb.

The absolute highlight of this year’s event is going to be the Shell Eco Marathon. This unique automotive competition is about creating the ultimate fuel efficient car and attracts thousands of young engineers from around the globe. Each team will attempt to prove that their lightweight, super streamlined vehicle has what it takes to snatch the fuel efficiency crown from the current record holder. The current record stands at an amazing 3,771km per litre, which is the equivalent of London to Helsinki AND back, all on just 1 litre of fuel. We wish all the teams the best of luck in this challenge.

The world is in need of pioneering thinkers to work in collaboration with the aim of making our energy use as efficient, clean and sustainable as possible, this will allow the whole of humanity (and the planet) to have a greener future.
