Review: The Distinction between Osram Night Breaker Laser and Unlimited

Many individuals who have previously bought the Osram Night Breaker Unlimited want to know how it compares to the new Osram Night Breaker Laser. Below I have highlighted the main differences between the bulbs using 3 points of comparison.

Gas Combination

The Osram Night Breaker Unlimited contains a Xenon halogen gas mixture.

The new Osram Night Breaker Laser has a pure Xenon gas filling. The pure Xenon filling allows the Laser to produce a much brighter and whiter light than the Unlimited with its Xenon halogen mixture.

The Night breaker laser is still a road legalized halogen bulb and is best used for replacing your existing bulbs.

Light Functioning

The light produced by the Osram Night Breaker Unlimited is 110% more than a standard halogen gas filled bulb. This means that the beam length can be up to 35m longer than the average bulb.

In comparison, the Night Breaker Laser with its pure Xenon gas filling produces 130% more light than the average halogen bulb. That’s an extra 20% more light when compared to the Night Breaker Unlimited. As well as this, the length of the beam produced can be up to 40m longer than the equivalent halogen filled bulb. That is an increase of 5m compared to the Night Breaker Unlimited.

When you consider how much of an increase to a standard halogen bulb the Night Breaker Unlimited is, it’s incredible that Osram have managed to improve on this with the Night Breaker Laser.

Bulb Blueprint

Both the Night Breaker Unlimited and Laser are unique in their design.

The Night Breaker Unlimited has a blue coating with a clear window, adding a stylish element to any car even when the bulb is not illuminated.

The Night breaker Laser improves on this style with a window in the glass of the bulb formed by a laser. This enables you to enjoy the benefit of a brighter, whiter light as well as an optimised light distribution whilst driving at night. The name of the bulb has also been etched into the glass, for an added stylish flare.

My Final verdict

The Osram Night Breaker Laser delivers a superior bright white light when compared to the Osram Night Breaker Unlimited.

However, the Night Breaker Laser is currently only available in H7 and H4 fitments, for the moment. If your car has another bulb fitting the Night Breaker Unlimited is still a great choice compared to standard halogen bulbs. Especially as the nights get darker and we enter winter in the next few months.
