Hand Brake shoes are fitted to vehicles with rear disc brakes when the handbrake is not applied directly by the caliper. The hand brake shoes would normally sit inside the rear brake disc where they would operate much in the same way as a drum brake system but in this case mechainally when the hand brake lever is applied. Replacements required when contaminated with fluids or worn excessively.
