How do I know which car battery charger to buy?

Knowing which car battery charger to buy will depend on your use case. A standard charger will do the job, but they lack some of the additional features found in smart chargers such as automatic charging modes. If you don't need these features, however, a standard charger is an acceptable option.

The size of your car's engine, and what type it is, will also factor in. Bigger engines will need a more powerful charger, and if the engine is gel, calcium or AGM/EFB-based, you'll need a smart charger rather than a standard one.

Will a car charger charge a dead battery?

If your battery has simply run out of power and there are no other issues, you can recharge a dead battery with the charger.

Can you leave a car battery charger on all the time?

Yes, leaving the charger on is unlikely to cause any problems. Smart chargers are a good option if you plan to recharge overnight or for longer, as some come with a trickle mode to keep your battery at 100% without overcharging.

How long should a car battery take to charge?

This will depend on how low the car battery's charge is, but most batteries can recharge in around 10-24 hours.
