Timing Belt Kit

Timing Belt Kit

A timing belt kit contains all the necessary parts required when changing the timing belt - not just the timing belt itself. Thankfully, the timing belt kits below come with everything you need to get the job done. Explore the range today.
The timing belt (also known as the cambelt) is the ridged belt connecting the crankshaft to the camshaft. It ensures synchronised rotation of these parts and controls the opening and closing of the engine's valves. In an interference engine the timing belt also stops the valves being struck by the pistons. Many newer cars have timing chains instead of timing belts as these last longer. If your car is one that still has a timing belt you will need to change it according to the manufacturer's recommendation - usually every 60,000 miles or 5 years. It is advised that the water pump driven by the timing belt should be replaced at the same time as the belt itself; it's also sensible to replace the camshaft and crankshaft seals. Replacing all the associated parts will save you money in the long run as it's usually the failure of a part driven by the timing belt that causes the belt itself to snap - it would be a shame for a newly replaced belt to break because of a worn part elsewhere in the system.
