As the name suggests, antifreeze helps to stop the water in an engine's cooling system from freezing during the winter months. Not only this, antifreeze also has a higher boiling point than water, which in turn helps to stop it from boiling as the temperature within the engine rises.
But that's not all. Within all antifreeze products there are a number of other additives that help to prevent corrosion and aid heat transfer, which in turn makes for an efficient, durable engine.
To check your vehicle's antifreeze level, open the bonnet and locate the coolant reservoir (a plastic tank with a screen cap). On the tank, you'll notice a 'full' line on the side - if the liquid in the tank sits below this level, you'll need to top it up with a mixture of water and antifreeze.
Without sufficient levels of antifreeze, a vehicle's cooling system could easily overheat. When this happens, huge repair bills often follow as vital components become damaged or seize altogether. To avoid this happening, invest in one of the antifreeze products and always ensure your cooling system is topped up to the appropriate level. Show Less
