Why and when should I change my engine oil?

Engine oil is designed to keep all the parts of your engine moving and working correctly. Over time it collects dirt and becomes less efficient, eventually requiring a change.

It’s recommended you change your engine oil every 5,000 miles. If you drive a lot, particularly in challenging conditions, it’s worth changing it at 3,000 miles.

Can you go back to regular oil after synthetic?

There is nothing wrong with switching back and forth between synthetic and regular oil, as the two are compatible with each other.

What are the symptoms of thick engine oil?

If engine oil is too thick, it won't properly lubricate the moving parts of your engine, so you might experience trouble starting your car (particularly on a cold day).
