Transmission Oil

Make every journey smooth with our gearbox oils. Also known as transmission oils, gearbox oils are an important part of your gearbox that help to keep all the moving parts lubricated.

The transmission system does a lot of work, and these oils prevent the moving parts from overheating and becoming worn out due to excess friction. Explore our range of engine oils or browse transmission fluid for automatic cars.

What Is Gearbox Oil?

Gearbox oil is there to protect your gearbox as you shift from one gear into another. Keeping the transmission system lubricated, these oils prevent the moving parts from overheating, becoming worn out due to excess friction and rusting or corroding.

How Often Should I Change My Gearbox Oil?

Your transmission oil doesn’t need changing very often – generally speaking, between 30,000 and 60,000 miles will stop your gears grinding and help extend the lifespan of your gearbox. However, you might find that it deteriorates more quickly if you drive in a city due to constant stopping and starting, or if you regularly pull heavy loads.

What Are The Signs Of Low Gearbox Oil?

There are several ways you can tell if your gearbox oil needs topping up;

  • You feel a delay when you shift gears
  • You notice vibrations in your gearbox when you change gears
  • Grinding sounds coming from your gearbox

Can I Drive With Low Gearbox Oil?

Low gearbox oil can cause lasting damage to your gearbox if it’s not regularly changed. To avoid expensive and dangerous damage, it’s best to top up your gearbox oil as soon as you notice any problems.
