What Windscreen Wipers Do I Need For My Car?

It’s crucial to replace your windscreen wipers with the same-sized blade; blades that are too small won’t clear your entire screen, and those that are too big will wear out more quickly. Your vehicle manual will tell you the size and specification of wiper blades you need, or you can use our numberplate checker above to find wiper blades suited to your vehicle.

How To Change Your Wiper Blades

Replacing your wiper blades is a simple task. Once you’ve got the hang of it, you can replace your wipers in less than 10 minutes. You'll need to carefully lift your wiper arm away from your windscreen before releasing the blade from the arm. Once your old blade has been removed, all that’s left is to click your new blade into place and give it a gentle pull to check it’s safely connected. Find more advice on changing your wiper blades.

FAQs

Can You Drive With Only One Windscreen Wiper?

By law, you must have one or more fully working windscreen wiper that adequately clears your screen so the road is visible. If you can’t clearly see the road ahead of you, you could be fined or get points on your license.

Are Silicone Wipers Better Than Rubber?

While rubber has been traditionally used in wiper blades for decades, it can be more prone to wear and tear, especially if regularly exposed to fierce sunlight, wind and rain. Silicone wiper blades are more durable, with greater resistance to extreme temperatures and snow. They’re formulated to make sure water beads and disperses, so you can get a clearer field of vision, more quickly.

Is It Illegal To Drive Without Screen Wash In The UK?

You could be issued with a fine if you drive without any screen wash in your car. Washer fluid lets you remove any build up of debris, dust or dirt, keeping your windscreen in good condition as you drive.
